Postcard(s) from abroad…

Contrary to what my recent lack of posts would indicate, I have not fallen off the face of the earth.  The past few weeks were spent traveling to some breathtaking and extraordinary places and meeting incredible people that I hope to call life-long friends.  While it would have been more interesting and thrilling to defect and continue roaming around Europe with my backpack and inordinately large camera the vacation had to end sometime.  I have yet to even go through the some 2,400+ photos taken on said camera, but I will share some random gems captured with my iPhone.  Carrying thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment…takes photos with her cell phone.  Yes, I was THAT girl.  My only argument being they are easier to share.  Enjoy!  Diving back into work in the studio soon!

On creativity…

Sometimes the internet, as great as it is for certain tasks, can turn into a bottomless abyss of wasted time that you get sucked into on your way to achieving your life goals.  Every now and again you can stumble upon a gem that makes it all seem worthwhile.  If you have twenty minutes to spare I urge you to watch/listen to this funny and strangely inspirational talk by Elizabeth Gilbert[author: Eat. Pray. Love.] as she discusses the ever elusive creative genius.

Hello world!

I’m Tristyn.  Hey!  Nice to meet you!  I’m an artist.  Maybe you had guessed as much?

I’m a Kutztown University alumnus with a BFA in Crafts and a concentration in Fibers.

I love all forms of art.

I have a semi-unhealthy obsession with coffee, books, large watches, shoes[Oh yes, shoes.  What?  I’m a girl.  You had to have seen that coming.] and capturing moments with my camera.

I’m probably not exaggerating when I say about 25% of my wardrobe has polka dots.

Words of wisdom to live by: strive to be a Fruit Loop in this world full of Cheerios.

Summarization has never been my strong suit.  I considered seeking help in the matter, but I got distracted by something shiny and that didn’t happen.

I decided to add this blog to my revamped website[Doesn’t it look snazzy?  I sure think so!  Thanks Sara!] to share insights on what it’s like to be an artist and various studio happenings.

Thank you for taking the time to read.  I have immeasurable amounts of gratitude for people like you, friends, family, supporters of the arts.

Please feel free to check back from time to time in order to monitor my progress on my quest toward art-world domination.

Continue to live life creatively.
